Frequently Asked Questions.
You asked. We answered.
How long does it take to replace a residential roof?
Replacing a roof can take anywhere from one day up to a week. The weather, the size of the roof, and the schedule of the roofing contractor play a huge role in the time it takes to replace a roof.
What goes into a roofing system?
Decking and installation including ice and water barrier, underlayment, starter shingles, shingles, hip and ridge shingles, intake vents and exhaust vents.
What types of roofs do you specialize in?
Anthony Wayne Roofing and Construction specializes in all commercial, residential, and multifamily roofing needs including but not limited to asphalt shingle roofs and flat roofing, but a wide variety of other roofing systems such as new roof installations, repairs, tear-offs, and garage roofs.
What are the components of a roofing system?
The base component of a roofing system is the decking which is typically made of 1/2 inch plywood. The decking is fastened to the roofs rafter and it reinforces the roof structure. Then you have the roofing underlayment which is a sheet of felt of synthetic material installed over the roofs plywood deck. This is applied before the roofing shingles or selected material is fastened down. The underlayment is added protection from moisture penetrating the deck, which could result in attic leaks and wood rot. After the underlayment is done flashing are installed. Flashing secures the joint in the roof and places that tend to receive a lot of water, like valleys between slopes or around a chimney. Then the ventilation is installed and you're ready to install the final roofing material. The roofing material like shingle and many other materials is what protect the rooftop from sun, rain, hail, and snow as well as improve the physical appearance of your home.
How do you choose a roof style?
There are many things to consider when selecting the perfect roofing system. Consider your area, location, and climate, set a budget, and consider the shape and size of your roof. Also when factoring in what roofing material is best for your home think about the style of your home and what matches the overall architecture.
